Huis Ten Bosch autumn/winter 2026: fireworks on November 14 and special trains from Hakata

Dates for Halloween, Christmas plus a new illumination, and the Kyushu Grand Fireworks Festival at Huis Ten Bosch (Sasebo City, Nagasaki Prefecture), plus the JR Kyushu special trains running during those periods. Halloween runs to November 3, Christmas runs November 6 to December 25, and the fireworks festival is a single day, November 14. Special trains run on weekends and holidays in October and November, plus 3 directions (Sasebo, Hakata and Nagasaki) on the day of the fireworks festival.

1. “Sugoi Halloween” runs to November 3

Huis Ten Bosch’s Halloween, “Sugoi Halloween Is Coming!,” runs from Friday, September 18 to Tuesday, November 3 (a holiday). For the first time, Miffy, Melanie, Boris and Grunty appear in Halloween costumes such as witches and pirates for the “Miffy & Friends Halloween Party Parade,” which includes a dance time and photo time. For those who want more scares, “Haunted Halloween” brings dark figures, including new character “Death King,” to the front garden of Palace Huis Ten Bosch (except Tuesdays and Wednesdays). For 10 days from October 23 to November 3 (excluding October 27–28), there is also a horror experience called “Nightmare Cruise Ship,” staged aboard a real cruise ship. “Sugoi Halloween Is Coming!” (Huis Ten Bosch official site)

2. Christmas and a new illumination start November 6

Christmas, “European Holy Christmas,” runs from Friday, November 6 to Friday, December 25, with the park’s largest-ever decorations dressing its European streets in wreaths and ribbons, plus Japan’s only “Grand Chandelier Tree.” The Christmas Market has food stalls serving items like Christmas chicken and soup, alongside Christmas goods imported directly from Europe and original park merchandise. A new illumination, “The Starlight Millions,” also starts November 6, but runs longer than Christmas, continuing to February 25, 2027. It wraps the whole town in a display of twinkling stars. During the Christmas period, “Miffy Christmas” is held for the first time, with a special show, “Miffy & Friends’ Christmas Festival,” and limited-time food. 3. Kyushu Grand Fireworks Festival: November 14, 22,000 fireworks

The 13th “Kyushu Grand Fireworks Festival” is held on a single day, Saturday, November 14, planned to run 18:45 to 20:30. The park is open 10:00 to 24:00 that day, with last entry at 21:00. Along with 22,000 fireworks, the show is planned to include special effects and a joint performance with a night show. The venue is Huis Ten Bosch, 1-1 Huis Ten Bosch-machi, Sasebo City, Nagasaki. 4. Getting there by special train. Reserved seats for fireworks day go on sale October 14

Because of strong demand for Huis Ten Bosch’s new attraction “Evangelion: The Ride,” JR Kyushu is adding one extra round trip of the Limited Express Huis Ten Bosch between Hakata and Huis Ten Bosch stations. The outbound train arrives at Huis Ten Bosch Station at 9:51, and reserved seats go on sale at 10:00 am, 1 month before your travel date. The extra service runs on: October 10 (Sat)–12 (Mon, holiday), 17 (Sat), 24 (Sat), 31 (Sat), November 1 (Sun), 3 (Tue, holiday), 7 (Sat), 22 (Sun), 23 (Mon, holiday) and 28 (Sat). On the day of the Kyushu Grand Fireworks Festival, November 14, special trains run in 3 directions — Sasebo, Hakata (including limited express) and Nagasaki — with reserved seats going on sale Wednesday, October 14 at 10:00 am. 5. Admission and getting there

A 1-Day Passport starts from ¥7,600 for adults, ¥6,600 for a “Chu-nin” (junior/senior high school age), ¥5,000 for a “Sho-nin” (elementary school age), ¥3,800 for preschoolers (age 4 to before elementary school), and ¥5,900 for seniors (65+); ages 3 and under are free. From Hakata Station, the Limited Express Huis Ten Bosch runs directly to Huis Ten Bosch Station, which is right next to the park entrance.

Halloween and Christmas run for weeks, but the fireworks festival is a single day, November 14. If you plan to use the reserved seats on the special limited express toward Hakata on fireworks day, check the October 14 on-sale time first; if you haven’t fixed how you’re getting there, check the dates of the extra limited-express service first.
