2. What is HYROX?

HYROX is a race where you run 1km, then do one workout station, and repeat that 8 times. Races are held in large indoor exhibition halls, and because the format is the same worldwide, results from different locations go into the same ranking, ending with a World Championship at the end of the season. About HYROX (HYROX Japan official)

The 8 stations, one after each 1km run, come in a fixed order and fixed distance:

  1. SkiErg 1,000m
  2. Sled Push 50m
  3. Sled Pull 50m
  4. Burpee Broad Jumps 80m
  5. Rowing 1,000m
  6. Farmers Carry 200m
  7. Sandbag Lunges 100m
  8. Wall Balls 100 reps

You can enter as a solo racer (Open or Pro), as Doubles sharing the work with a partner, or as a Relay team of four. Osaka’s event schedule also has an Adaptive division.

According to an announcement on August 13, 2026, “AirAsia HYROX Chiba,” held August 6–9 at Makuhari Messe, drew about 12,000 participants aged 16 to 76. That beat the previous Osaka event (8,087 participants) and is the largest HYROX event held in Japan so far. “AirAsia HYROX Chiba” draws 12,000 participants (Hybrid Fitness Racing HK Limited press release, August 13, 2026)

3. Japan’s next events: Osaka (January) and Nagoya (April)

Japan’s next HYROX event is “BYD HYROX Osaka,” running Thursday, January 21 to Monday, January 25, 2027 at INTEX Osaka. Athlete tickets and spectator tickets are sold per event on the official ticket page. You can change the name on a ticket up until the day before your race. Refunds are only available if you added the optional “Flex Add-On” at purchase: a full refund up to 31 days before the race, or half up to 7 days before (the Flex Add-On fee itself and processing fees are not refunded). Entry to the venue is by wristband on your own race day; a spectator ticket is needed for other days. BYD HYROX Osaka (HYROX Japan official)
