If you are driving around Itoshima for the day and want one stop where parking is not a worry, ICHIRAN no Mori (一蘭の森) Itoshima is a candidate. According to the official page, it is open 10:00–16:00 and has parking for 594 ordinary cars. It is also more than a ramen counter: a small museum and a noodle-making area can both be viewed for free, any time.

  • Natural tonkotsu ramen (the original recipe) is ¥980, tax included; a topping ticket (kaedama) is ¥210.
  • The “focus counter” with partitions (16 seats) is open weekends and public holidays only. On weekdays you are seated at one of the 57 table seats.

1. A ramen shop and a free museum in one building

The official shop page says ICHIRAN no Mori Itoshima has a small museum and a noodle-making viewing area, and both can be seen for free, any time, without a tour booking. It also states there are children’s tableware sets available. That makes it a place you can stop at just to eat, or turn into a longer visit with the family.

2. Natural tonkotsu ramen ¥980, kaedama ¥210

Prices are listed on the official shop page: natural tonkotsu ramen, made to the original recipe since ICHIRAN’s founding, is ¥980; a kaedama (extra portion of noodles) is ¥210; a medium draft beer is ¥580. All prices include tax.

3. The partitioned “focus counter” is weekends and holidays only

Seating is split into two: a 16-seat “focus counter” (味集中カウンター) with partitions between diners, open on Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays only, and 57 table seats used the rest of the time. If you come on a weekday, you will be seated at a table, not the partitioned counter. Hours are 10:00–16:00, last order 15:45, and ICHIRAN notes hours may change depending on how busy the shop is. If your day includes driving through lunchtime, it is safer to arrive earlier rather than later.

4. Shima-Matsukuma, 21 minutes from the interchange, parking for 594 cars

The address is 256-10 Shima-Matsukuma, Itoshima City, Fukuoka Prefecture; phone 050-3733-4433. From the Fukuoka City direction, the shop is about 21 minutes from the Imajuku Interchange on the Nishi-Kyushu Expressway; from the Saga/Karatsu direction, about 21 minutes from the Maebaru-higashi Interchange. Parking is 594 spaces for ordinary cars, 6 for large vehicles and 27 for motorbikes. The official page does not describe a public-transport route, so plan on driving.
