When someone asks for “something Hakata-style” to eat, having one hotpot restaurant in mind makes planning easy. Hakata Hanamidori Nakasu Main Store (水たき料亭 博多華味鳥 中洲本店) in Nakasu, Hakata Ward, Fukuoka City, is built around mizutaki, a Hakata-style chicken hotpot, with both private rooms and open banquet floors — a layout that works whether the group size is still unclear.

In short

  • Mizutaki courses run ¥4,500–¥8,500, plus a Nakasu-exclusive top course from ¥12,000 (minimum 4 people); dinner adds a 10% service charge.
  • 180 seats over 5 floors: private rooms and tables on 1F and 4F–5F, banquet floors for groups on 2F–3F.
  • Lunch is weekends and public holidays only, 11:30–15:00; dinner runs to 23:00 on weekdays/Saturdays and 22:00 on Sundays/holidays.
  • A 5-minute walk from Nakasukawabata Station Exit 2, between Hakata Station and Tenjin.

1. Named after Hanamidori, its own chicken brand; 5 floors at the Nakasu Main Store

Hakata Hanamidori is a mizutaki specialist under the banner “a taste born and raised in Hakata,” with locations in Fukuoka as well as Osaka and Tokyo. The Nakasu Main Store has private rooms and tables on the 1st floor, group-sized banquet floors on the 2nd and 3rd floors, and tables including private rooms on the 4th and 5th floors — 180 seats in total. The building is smoke-free all day, with a separate room for e-cigarettes only. The official site also lists a la carte dishes and drinks alongside the hotpot courses.

2. Courses from ¥4,500; dinner adds a 10% service charge

Official course prices (tax included) run in four tiers: Aji ¥4,500, Hana ¥5,500, Kinka ¥6,500 and Hoo ¥8,500. A Nakasu-exclusive Kokujaku course starts at ¥12,000 and is booked for 4 or more people. Dinner adds a 10% service charge on top, so the Aji course works out to about ¥4,950 per person before drinks (our calculation). Lunch runs weekends and public holidays only; check the official lunch menu page for its prices. Visa, Mastercard, JCB, Amex and Diners credit cards and QR-code payments are accepted.

3. Closes an hour earlier on Sundays and holidays; book online or by phone

Dinner is Monday–Saturday 17:00–23:00 (last order 22:00), Sunday and public holidays 17:00–22:00 (last order 21:00). Lunch is weekends and public holidays only, 11:30–15:00 (last order 14:00) — there is no weekday lunch. The restaurant closes for the New Year holiday period. Book via the official site’s web reservation form or by phone at 092-263-0322. If you want a private room or have a large group, mentioning it when you book helps secure it.

4. 5 minutes from Nakasukawabata Station Exit 2

The address is Trizen Building, 5-4-24 Nakasu, Hakata Ward, Fukuoka City. The official access page gives a 5-minute walk from Exit 2 of Nakasukawabata Station on the subway Airport Line — a station between Hakata Station and Tenjin, easy to fit into an evening on the day you arrive. Parking is not mentioned on the official site.

5. Before you go

  • Lunch is weekends and public holidays only; plan on a dinner booking on weekdays.
