1. When are the deadlines?
Fukuoka City
The city’s “Guide to using childcare facilities in Fukuoka City, FY2027” (令和9年度福岡市保育施設等利用のご案内) covers licensed nursery schools (認可保育所), the childcare part of certified centers (認定こども園) and small-scale childcare, among others.
| Round | Apply by | Results sent |
|---|---|---|
| First | Fri, Nov 6, 2026 | Thu, Jan 14, 2027 |
| Second | Wed, Jan 27, 2027 | Wed, Feb 17, 2027 |
| Third | Mon, Mar 1, 2027 | Fri, Mar 12, 2027 |
Important
The city’s English version of the guide shows the first deadline as “Friday, November 11th”. The Japanese original says Friday, November 6 (令和8年11月6日(金)), and November 6, 2026 is the Friday. Use November 6.
2. How do I apply?
Fukuoka City
- Find nurseries with space. The city’s nursery vacancy map (Japanese) lists facilities.
- Book and make a visit to every nursery you list. Fukuoka City says you must visit all the nurseries you want before you apply. Some nurseries offer an online or phone visit if you are moving from outside the city or live far away.
- Get the forms and proof of your reason for childcare. From October 1, forms are handed out at each nursery, each ward’s Child Rearing Support Section, the Iribe and Seibu branch offices and the Information Plaza on the first floor of City Hall. The work certificate (就労証明書) can be downloaded from the city’s page.
- Hand in the first-round application by November 6. Give it to your first-choice nursery, or apply online through Mynaportal (ぴったりサービス). For the second and third rounds, apply at the Child Rearing Support Section of the ward where your first-choice nursery is, or online.
The city also has an English version of the FY2027 guide, but check dates against the Japanese original.
3. Who do I ask?
Fukuoka City
Ask the Child Rearing Support Section (子育て支援課) at your ward office; for example, Higashi Ward 092-645-1068 and Hakata Ward 092-419-1080. The other wards’ numbers are on the city’s guide page. The guide does not say whether the counters can help in English. For interpreting and help with Japanese forms, see Help in your language in Fukuoka City.
