Here are 12 orchards in Fukuoka Prefecture where you can pick mandarins, persimmons or pears. The pear and persimmon orchards in Ukiha City are mostly free to enter, or ¥100, and charge by weight only for what you take home. Mandarin picking usually adds an entry fee (¥300–¥700) on top of the per-kilogram price. As a rough guide, pears run mid-July to late October, persimmons October to mid-December, and mandarins October to the end of December. Six orchards that already have their own article are shown in the table with a link only.

1. Tenshoen (Wakamatsu Ward, Kitakyushu City)
Depends on the orchard
An orchard for Wakamatsu mandarins. The season usually runs from early November to the end of December; entry is ¥700 for junior-high age and up, ¥500 for 4-year-olds to elementary schoolers, and picked mandarins are bought at ¥450 per kilogram. Picking is only for people buying fruit to take home; opening hours are 10:00–16:00, in sessions of up to 90 minutes. As of September 28, 2026, the official website’s top page still shows a notice that mandarin picking is closed because of an August flood, with only direct sales running, and its news section’s newest post is from December 2025 — so nothing about opening in 2026 has been posted yet. Check the official website or LINE before you go. Groups of 10 or more need to book, and there is parking for around 20 cars.

The official site says the best time for early-variety mandarins is October to mid-December, and as of September 28, 2026 its mandarin-picking booking page shows “closed.” Open 9:00–17:00 (last entry 16:00). 7. Which one to choose
To pick a little without paying an entry fee, choose the free-entry, pay-by-weight orchards — Konoen, Meikaen and Shiraishi Kaki Orchard, plus Takayama Kajuen, Shunkoen and Nakashima Orchard, which already have their own articles. All five mandarin orchards charge entry, and Tenshoen also buys picked mandarins at ¥450 per kilogram on top of its entry fee. If you also want a barbecue, Buzen Fruit Land has a reservation-only course, and Shiraishi Kaki Orchard lends barbecue gear free for one group a day, booked in advance. Since persimmon picking at Shiraishi Kaki Orchard is weekends and holidays only and needs a booking, Ishii Orchard — open every day in season — is the option for a weekday visit.
Common questions
Are the opening dates fixed each year?
Every orchard describes its season as moving with how the fruit is growing that year, so check each orchard’s official website or social media just before you go.
What happens if it rains?
Whether picking runs in the rain is each orchard’s own call. Check the official page for that orchard, or the Ukiha City Tourism Association’s site, in the body of this guide above.
