This page is general information from official sources. It is not medical advice, and it cannot tell you how serious your child’s symptoms are. If you are not sure, call the advice lines in section 1. If your child is unconscious, cannot breathe properly, or you feel their life is in danger, call 119 at once.
It is late at night or a Sunday, your child’s usual pediatrician is closed, and the fever is going up. In Ehime Prefecture, two prefecture phone lines can help you decide what to do, and some cities run night and holiday clinics that see children. This page covers the phone lines, the clinics in Matsuyama City and Niihama City, and how to find the doctor on duty in Imabari City. It uses pages from Ehime Prefecture, the three cities and the local medical associations.
In short
- Not sure what to do? For a child, call #8000 (evenings, nights, and all day on Sundays and holidays). For anyone, at any hour, #7119 tells you whether to call an ambulance and which hospital is open (section 1).
- In Matsuyama, the Matsuyama City Emergency Medical Center sees children every night, with reception from 20:30 to 7:30. On Sundays and holidays, the medical association’s holiday clinic sees children in the daytime (section 2).
- In Niihama, the Toyo-Tobu Children’s Emergency Center has pediatricians from 21:00 to 6:00, Monday to Saturday, and 18:00 to 21:00 on Sundays and holidays (section 3).
- These clinics treat sudden illness, not injuries. For a cut, burn or head injury, go to the emergency hospital on duty that day (section 5).

1. Which number do I call when I am not sure?
#8000: Ehime children’s medical advice line
Ehime Prefecture
The Ehime Prefecture Children’s Medical Telephone Consultation (愛媛県子ども医療電話相談) gives advice when a child suddenly becomes ill, for example with a high fever. A nurse answers, and a pediatrician when needed. It is open on weekdays from 18:00, on Saturdays from 13:00, and on Sundays and holidays from 8:00, each time until 8:00 the next morning. Matsuyama City says it is also open from 8:00 to 8:00 the next morning from December 29 to January 3. The weekday start moved from 19:00 to 18:00 on May 1, 2025; one older prefecture page still shows 19:00.
- From a mobile phone or a push-button landline, dial #8000. From a dial phone or an IP phone, call 089-913-2777.
- The advice is free, but you pay for a call within Ehime.
- If the line is busy, wait a little and call again.
- If they suggest a clinic or hospital, always call it before you go.
The prefecture says this is advice based on limited information over the phone, not a diagnosis or treatment. It is for helping you decide.
#7119: Ehime emergency advice line
Ehime Prefecture
The Ehime Emergency Telephone Consultation (えひめ救急電話相談) is open 24 hours a day, every day, for adults and children. A nurse or doctor listens to the symptoms, judges how urgent it is, and tells you whether to call an ambulance or go to a hospital now. They also tell you about medical institutions near you. Ehime Prefecture and all 20 cities and towns in Ehime have run it together since July 1, 2023. The prefecture says the advice is for reference and is not medical treatment.
The advice is free; the call charge depends on your line:
- Free: #7119 from a landline, or from an NTT docomo or Rakuten mobile line. Or call the free number 0120-79-7119 from any line that can use it.
- Paid: #7119 from other mobile carriers costs a call within Ehime, so the prefecture suggests 0120-79-7119 instead.
- If neither number works, for example from some IP phones, call 089-909-9935 (paid).
The prefecture’s pages do not say which languages the #8000 and #7119 advisors speak.
2. Where can a child see a doctor at night in Matsuyama?
Matsuyama City Emergency Medical Center (nights)
Matsuyama City
The Matsuyama City Emergency Medical Center (松山市急患医療センター) is a night clinic set up by the city. Doctors from Matsuyama and nearby towns take turns. Pediatrics is open every night from 21:00 to 8:00, with reception from 20:30 to 7:30. Internal medicine is open Monday to Saturday, 21:00 to 24:00. The city’s page links to Neconome (ネコの目.com), which shows the current waiting status.
- If you come by car, you may be asked to wait in the car after reception, and you will be called on your mobile phone. Waits can be long, so come ready to wait in the car.
- Enter the parking lot from the road on the south side of the public health center (保健所).
- Medicine is usually for one day only. See your usual doctor or a nearby clinic the next day.
- You can pay by credit card and other cashless methods (one-time payment only).
- Everyone, including the person who comes with the patient, must wear a mask. Only one person may come with the patient.
- If you think your child may have measles or chickenpox, do not go inside. Call the center first and follow its instructions.

Matsuyama Medical Association Holiday Clinic (Sundays and holidays)
Matsuyama City
The Matsuyama Medical Association Holiday Clinic (松山市医師会休日診療所) sees internal medicine and pediatrics on Sundays, national holidays and January 1 to 3. Pediatrics is from 11:00 to 14:00 and 15:00 to 18:00, with reception from 10:00 to 17:30. You cannot book by phone. There is an online questionnaire (Web問診), but it is not a booking: after you answer it, you still come during reception hours and take a number at the counter. For pediatrics, arrive by 17:00, one hour before the end.
The parking lot usually opens at 9:25. On busy days, you may wait in your car or go home for a while after reception. The clinic does not treat injuries or burns, even small ones, for children either; go to the emergency hospital on duty that day. The clinic is an 8-minute walk from Dobashi Station and a 12-minute walk from Matsuyama-shi Station on the Iyotetsu railway.

3. Where can a child see a doctor at night in Niihama?
Niihama City
The Niihama Medical Association Internal Medicine and Pediatrics Emergency Center (新居浜市医師会内科・小児科急患センター) is just south of Niihama City Hall. Since April 2025, it also houses the Toyo-Tobu Three Cities Children’s Emergency Center (東予東部3市こども急患センター), set up to keep children’s emergency care going in Niihama, Saijo and Shikokuchuo.
The children’s emergency center with pediatricians runs from 21:00 to 6:00 the next morning, Monday to Saturday, and from 18:00 to 21:00 on Sundays and holidays. At other times, a pediatrician may not be there:
- Monday to Saturday, 20:00 to 23:00: the medical association lists internal medicine and pediatrics, but the city’s chart lists internal medicine only. Call before you go.
- Sundays and holidays, 9:00 to 17:00: internal medicine and pediatrics. The city says there may be no pediatrician, so call first.
The medical association asks you to bring children during the pediatrician hours when you can. The center has no blood test or X-ray equipment, and medicine is given for the shortest time needed. It does not treat bruises, cuts or other injuries. For Golden Week, the New Year and other long holidays, check the hours in the medical association’s news.

4. How do I find the doctor on duty in Imabari?
Imabari City
Imabari City publishes a duty roster of emergency hospitals and clinics (救急病院などの当直表) in each month’s city newsletter, Koho Imabari (広報いまばり). The roster lists the emergency hospital on duty from 8:30 to 8:30 the next morning, and pediatric clinics on duty from 9:00 to 12:00 and 14:00 to 17:00 on the days shown. The duty can change for hospital reasons, so the city asks you to check the Ehime medical information website or the phone guide at 0898-32-3300 before you go. The roster is in Japanese.
5. What if my child is injured?
Matsuyama City
The night and holiday clinics above are for sudden illness. For injuries, burns or a hard knock to the head, go to the emergency hospital (二次救急医療機関) on duty that day. In Matsuyama, the Emergency Hospital Guide Line (救急当番医療機関案内ダイヤル), 050-1809-1910, tells you that day’s emergency hospitals by automated voice, 24 hours a day. The city also posts duty rosters for this month and next month on the 1st of each month. The city says to call the hospital before you go, because it may be busy at night.
In Niihama, four hospitals take turns as emergency hospitals, 24 hours a day, the medical association says. Anywhere in Ehime, #7119 can tell you which hospital near you is open.
6. What should I bring?
Matsuyama City
Important
Bring your child’s My Number Card used as a health insurance card (マイナ保険証) or Eligibility Certificate (資格確認書), and any public medical certificate, such as the child medical expense certificate. The Matsuyama Medical Association says that if you forget them, you will be charged as an uninsured patient.
- Check tonight’s hours, and whether a pediatrician is there, on the city or medical association page or by phone.
- Bring masks for the patient and the one adult who comes along (Matsuyama).
- Bring what your child needs to wait in the car, if you drive.
- See your usual doctor or a nearby clinic the next day.
