Yamaguchi’s paid indoor play areas are spread across the prefecture, so the easiest way to choose is by the city you are in. This guide compares eight in Shimonoseki, Yamaguchi, Ube, Shunan, Kudamatsu and Iwakuni: three Kidsland US shops, two The Kids shops, Mooovi Shimonoseki, Kids Park Cotton and Mikawa Moovalley. It lists ages, prices, parking, opening hours and rules for visitors who do not read Japanese.
In short
- A child’s price runs from ¥300 at Mooovi Shimonoseki (adults ¥300 too) to ¥1,100 for a weekday all-day pack at Kidsland US Yamaguchi Shimonoseki and Ube. Parking is free at six of the eight; The Kids Daimaru Shimonoseki uses a pay car park (¥100 per 30 minutes).
- No reservation is needed for Kidsland US, and The Kids lets you in at the time you arrive even with a pre-bought ticket. Cotton takes bookings only on special days (Obon and the New Year holidays).
- Mikawa Moovalley is a cave-themed adventure park, not a play area; its site has a language selector that includes English (it looks like an automatic translation).
- No official English pages were found for the other seven. The Kids says tattoos and tattoo stickers must be covered; see the section on The Kids.

1. How do the eight places compare?

Most places have free parking and are built around a car trip; The Kids Daimaru Shimonoseki, in front of JR Shimonoseki Station, is the one you can reach by train. Prices include tax and are the lowest standard child prices on each page; holiday prices are higher.

2. Shimonoseki: The Kids Daimaru, Kidsland US and Mooovi

The Kids Daimaru Shimonoseki (The Kids 大丸下関店) is on the 5th floor of Daimaru, right in front of JR Shimonoseki Station and the Sanden bus stop. A child’s all-day pack is ¥1,000 on weekdays and ¥1,200 on holidays, a guardian’s all-day pack is ¥500, and a 30-minute trial is ¥500. Hours are 10:00 – 18:00 on weekdays (last reception 17:30) and 10:00 – 19:00 on weekends and holidays (last reception 18:30). Parking is at the Seamall car park (24 hours, ¥100 per 30 minutes, ¥50 from 19:00 to 7:00). Address: 4-4-10 Takezakicho, Shimonoseki City (下関市竹崎町4-4-10). Google Maps.
Kidsland US Yamaguchi Shimonoseki (キッズランドUS 山口下関店): a large indoor playground on the 2nd floor of Across Plaza Shimonoseki Chofu, open 10:00 – 18:00. On weekdays a child pays ¥900 for 1 hour or ¥1,100 for the day, and a guardian pays ¥800 for the day; on holidays a child’s 3-hour pack is ¥1,600. The shop asks weekend visitors to use public transport because of crowding and not to park in nearby car parks; its own car park is free. Mooovi Shimonoseki (Mooovi下関): a play area on the grounds of the Boat Race Shimonoseki, made with the play-specialist company Bornelund. Children (6 months to 12) and adults each pay ¥300; on weekdays that is for the day, and on weekends and holidays it is per session, with four sessions (10:00 – 11:30, 12:00 – 13:30, 14:00 – 15:30 and 16:00 – 17:30). The adult fee includes entry on boat race days. The indoor map lists three areas: Infinity Garage (climbing wall and parkour, from about age 7), Discovery House (from 6 months; pretend play, a baby zone for 6 to 18 months, a nursing booth and diaper changing) and Green Square (from about age 2). One guardian (the child’s supporter, or anyone aged 20 or over) can bring up to 3 children, guardians cannot swap in and out without paying again, and eating inside the facility is not allowed.

Opening times change by month and day. The calendar on the official site lists 14:00 – 17:30 on all-day days in October (14:00 – 17:00 in November) and four sessions on session days, and October 11 to 20 has changed hours (October 13 – 14, 16, 19 – 20, 13:00 – 16:00; October 11 – 12 and 17 – 18, three sessions from 10:00 to 15:30). 3. Yamaguchi City and Ube: Kidsland US

Kidsland US takes visitors without a reservation, children aged 0 to Grade 6 (0-year-olds are free), and a guardian aged 18 or over; junior high school students can also come in at the child price if they enter with an elementary-school-or-younger child and a guardian. Food and drink can be eaten in the eating space (no alcohol).
Kidsland US Fuji Grand Yamaguchi (キッズランドUSフジグラン山口店) is on the 1st floor of Fuji Grand Yamaguchi, open 10:00 – 19:00. A child pays ¥800 for 1 hour or ¥1,000 for the day on weekdays (a 3-hour pack is ¥1,300 on holidays), and a guardian pays ¥700 for the day. The evening pack (from 15:00 on weekdays, from 17:00 on holidays) is ¥800. There is a free car park for 500 cars. Address: 3736 Kurokawa, Yamaguchi City (山口市黒川3736). Google Maps. Kidsland US Yamaguchi Ube (キッズランドUS 山口宇部店) is on the 1st floor of Mr Max Ube Shopping Center, open 10:00 – 19:00. A child pays ¥900 for 1 hour or ¥1,100 for the day on weekdays (a 3-hour pack is ¥1,600 on holidays), and a guardian pays ¥800 for the day. The evening pack is ¥900. There is a free car park for 549 cars.

4. Shunan and Kudamatsu: The Kids AEON Town Shunan and Kids Park Cotton

The Kids AEON Town Shunan (The Kids イオンタウン周南店) charges ¥1,000 for a child’s weekday all-day pack and ¥1,500 on holidays, and parking is free at AEON Town’s 1,899-space car park. A 3-hour pack on holidays is ¥1,200, a guardian’s all-day pack is ¥500 and a 30-minute trial is ¥500. Hours are 10:00 – 18:00 on weekdays (last reception 17:30) and 10:00 – 19:00 on holidays (last reception 18:30). Address: 1-4-1 Furuichi, Shunan City, 1st floor (周南市古市1-4-1). Google Maps.
Note on The Kids (both shops)
The Kids’ FAQ says children from 0 to 12 need a guardian aged 20 or over (or someone with parental authority), you can come and go freely after check-in, and food can be eaten at the tables (no alcohol). It also asks visitors not to enter with tattoos, tattoo stickers or paper tattoos showing; cover them with a jacket or similar so other guests cannot see them.
Kids Park Cotton (キッズパークCotton): an all-weather indoor play area in the Kudamatsu Healthy Park grounds, reopened on June 1, 2026, for children aged 0 to elementary school. Weekday prices for 1 hour are ¥500 for a preschool child (aged 1 and up), ¥550 for an elementary school child and ¥300 for an adult; the free-time prices are ¥600, ¥650 and ¥300. Holiday prices (weekends, holidays and school vacations) are higher. Children under 1 enter free if you show proof of age, and adults always pay. Junior high school students and older pay the adult price.

Open 10:00 – 16:30 (last entry 15:30), closed Thursdays (except holidays); no booking is needed on normal days, and online booking in two sessions applies only on Obon and New Year special days. It is a membership facility: the form is filled in at reception, with a ¥100 per-family fee. Children play barefoot, food and drink cannot be brought into the play area, and you cannot go out and come back in. Payment is by cash, credit card or PayPay. Allergy meals and baby food can be used at the “WA LOUNGE” restaurant on the 1st floor of the Healthy Park. The Tokuyama Zoo discount (¥100 off per child with a zoo ticket or annual pass) also applies. By car it is about 10 minutes from the Tokuyama-Higashi IC; by train, take a taxi (about 5 minutes) from Kushigahama or Kudamatsu Station. 5. Iwakuni: Mikawa Moovalley (美川ムーバレー)

Mikawa Moovalley is an underground adventure theme park; about 1 km of its underground space is open to visitors. It is a puzzle-and-adventure park rather than a playground. A puzzle attraction, “The Pandora’s Box That Saves the World” (世界を救うパンドラの箱, about 60 minutes), runs all year, and a harder one, “Escape from the Ultra-Ancient Civilization Sleeping Underground” (地底に眠る超古代文明からの脱出, 60 to 120 minutes), started on October 1, 2026; its last reception is at 15:00.
Entry is ¥2,600 for adults (junior high school and older) and ¥1,200 for elementary school children; preschool children are free, although gold-panning (30 minutes, ¥1,650) and gem-hunting (20 minutes, ¥990) cost the same for them. Elementary school children cannot enter alone. Groups of 20 or more get ¥260 off for adults and ¥100 off for children, and the park says discount advance tickets are sold on Jalan and Asoview (the amount is not stated on its page). Hours are 10:00 – 17:00 (last reception 16:00). The park is closed on Tuesdays and Wednesdays (open on holidays and during school vacations), on December 31 and January 1, and you cannot re-enter. The website has a language selector that includes English; it appears to be an automatic translation (a Google Translate widget).
Getting there: about 25 km from the Iwakuni IC on the Sanyo Expressway. By train, take the Nishikigawa Seiryu Line to Nekasa Station, then the Iwakuni city bus about 7 minutes; the park notes that trains and buses are infrequent, and the city bus does not run on Sundays. 6. How do I choose?
- No car: The Kids Daimaru Shimonoseki, in front of JR Shimonoseki Station.
- Lowest cost: Mooovi Shimonoseki (¥300 each for a child and an adult), or Cotton on weekdays (¥500 for a preschool child, ¥300 for an adult for 1 hour).
- A full day with free re-entry: Kidsland US or The Kids day packs. At Fuji Grand Yamaguchi a weekday child pack is ¥1,000 and a guardian ¥700; at Shimonoseki and Ube a child is ¥1,100 and a guardian ¥800.
- Babies: Mooovi’s Discovery House (baby zone for 6 to 18 months, nursing booth), and the Kidsland US shops in Shimonoseki and Ube, whose pages list a nursing room. 0-year-olds are free at Kidsland US and Cotton.
- A day of puzzles and adventure with school-age children: Mikawa Moovalley.
Common questions
Do 0-year-olds pay?
Kidsland US says 0-year-olds are free at every shop, and Cotton says children under 1 are free with proof of age. A guardian’s fee is still required.
Do I need to book?
Kidsland US takes visitors on the day without a reservation. The Kids does not require a time reservation, because a pre-bought ticket lets you in when you arrive. Cotton needs booking only on its special days (Obon and the New Year holidays).
Can I bring a packed lunch?
Kidsland US and The Kids allow food and drink at their eating tables (no alcohol). Cotton’s play area and Mooovi Shimonoseki do not allow eating inside.
