14 Fukuoka sweets for visits, coworkers and gifts to take home, with box size, shelf life, price and where to buy, checked on each maker's own page in October 2026.

A box of sweets from Fukuoka works for a coworker, a neighbor, or a gift to take home. This guide lists 14 products from eight Fukuoka makers, checked on each maker’s own page in October 2026: what is in the box, how long it keeps, the price, and where to buy it in Fukuoka City.

In short

  • Boxes of 6 to 16 pieces cost ¥864 to ¥2,000 and suit a visit or a gift for a group. Small packs from ¥378 suit a quick thank-you.
  • Shelf life on the makers’ pages runs from about 15 days to 180 days. Check the number before you choose a gift to carry home.
  • Many of these makers have shops at JR Hakata Station (Maing and Deitos) or at Fukuoka Airport. Each maker’s store list is linked below.
  • Josuian’s (如水庵) gift page mentions individually wrapped sweets that are easy to share, but it does not say which products are wrapped that way. The other pages checked do not describe the wrapping, so do not assume it.

Checked with official pages on October 11, 2026.

1. Which Fukuoka sweets suit a visit or a group?

Depends on the provider

In Japan, people often bring a small gift (手土産, temiyage) when they visit a home or an office, and a travel souvenir (お土産, omiyage) for coworkers. The boxes below are the kind that fit both. Prices and shelf life come from each maker’s own product pages, so confirm the price at the shop counter.

Check the shelf life before you buy: Hakata Tsukushimochi and Hakata Yokaimo Totto-to keep 15 to 20 days from arrival, while the Menbei snack crackers keep 180 days from production. Plan around your trip or the day you give the gift.

Prices are tax-inclusive where the maker says so (Josuian, Ishimura Manseido, Hiyoko, Chidori, Toundo, Fukutaro, Saemon). Meigetsudo’s pages (Torimon, Jiman) do not say whether tax is included. Wrapping: Josuian’s gift page says it introduces standard souvenirs and individually wrapped sweets, but it does not say which of its products are wrapped one by one. Menbei lists its count as bags. For the other products, the pages checked do not describe the wrapping.

2. Which makers sell near Hakata Station and the airport?

Depends on the provider

Each maker keeps its own store list. The shops below are the ones that list Hakata Station, Fukuoka Airport or central Fukuoka City.

2.1 Meigetsudo (明月堂): Hakata Torimon and Hakata Jiman

Torimon is a white bean paste cake in a soft, milk-scented crust, and Jiman contains sweet beans (kanoko-mame). Meigetsudo’s store map lists the Maing and Deitos shops at Hakata Station, the Hakata Hankyu shop, and several shops at Fukuoka Airport (including ANA FESTA and SOLAE). Torimon is also sold in a 4-pack for ¥620. Meigetsudo’s notice of April 21, 2025 says the older 5-pack at ¥770 is being replaced by the 4-pack, shop by shop, so a shop may still stock the 5-pack. 2.2 Ishimura Manseido (石村萬盛堂): Tsuru no Ko

Tsuru no Ko is a soft cake with egg-yolk bean paste. The 8-piece box is ¥1,382 with tax and keeps about 28 days from the shipping date. Burabura is sold in 2, 4, 6, 12 and 15-piece packs. The 2-piece pack costs ¥378 and the 4-piece pack ¥756, both new in April 2026, so they suit a small thank-you. The 6-piece pack costs ¥1,080. 3. What can you give as a small thank-you?

Depends on the provider

For a quick thank-you, small packs of the same sweets are enough. They are also easy to hand to one person.

Menbei plain, small8 bags of 2 crackers180 days from production¥860
Hakata Burabura, 2 pieces2 pieces20 days¥378

The Torimon 4-pack figures are from Meigetsudo’s April 2025 notice, so confirm the pack size at the shop.

4. How should you choose?

  1. Pick the date first. Count the days from today to the day you will hand over the gift, and compare it with the shelf life in the table.
  2. Pick the shop you will pass. Hakata Station and the airport have the most shops on these lists; see section 2 for who has a counter there.
  3. Match the box to the group. Use a 6 to 16-piece box for an office or a family, and a 2 to 4-piece pack for one person.
  4. Check allergens on the label. Read the ingredients and allergen lines on the product page or the box before you buy.

Common questions

Can I buy Hakata Torimon at Fukuoka Airport?

Meigetsudo’s store map lists several shops at Fukuoka Airport, including ANA FESTA and SOLAE. Opening hours are not shown there, so check the shop before you go.

Which of these keep the longest?

Menbei plain keeps 180 days from production at room temperature on Fukutaro’s page. Niwaka Senbei keeps 60 days from production on Toundo’s page.

Can I order these online instead of carrying them?

Josuian, Toundo, Fukutaro, Hiyoko and Chidori each run an online shop (linked in Sources), and the product pages show the shelf life counted from arrival or from production. Shipping fees and delivery dates are shown at checkout; the pages are in Japanese.

Next steps

  • Open the maker’s store list before you go, and check the hours of the shop at your station or terminal.
  • Look at the shelf-life line on the product page again if you will carry the gift for more than a week.
