Osechi (おせち料理, osechi ryori) is a set of New Year dishes packed in stacked boxes (重箱, jubako). In Tokyo, department stores and hotels take pre-orders for 2027 in the autumn, and the order pages are in Japanese. This guide compares four sellers: Takashimaya’s online store, Hotel New Otani Tokyo, the Imperial Hotel Tokyo and Palace Hotel Tokyo. It gives the order deadline, how and when you get the osechi, and some prices.
In short
- The earliest deadline is Hotel New Otani Tokyo, on Sunday, December 13, 2026. Takashimaya’s online store is the latest: 10:00 on Friday, December 25, 2026, for card and app payments, and some osechi until 10:00 on Sunday, December 27.
- Hotels hand osechi over on Thursday, December 31, 2026. Takashimaya’s example box (E147) arrives on December 31 in the afternoon, and you cannot choose a time.
- Palace Hotel Tokyo shows all five osechi on its online shop as sold out (checked October 5, 2026). The hotel says it keeps no waiting list.
- Takashimaya, Hotel New Otani Tokyo and the Imperial Hotel Tokyo do not accept changes or cancellations after ordering. Palace Hotel Tokyo charges 50% or 100% of the price as a cancellation fee in late December.
- This guide does not cover Nihombashi Mitsukoshi or Isetan Shinjuku, because their pages could not be opened for checking.

1. How do I choose?
Depends on the seller
The three hotels and Takashimaya’s example box all hand over or deliver osechi on December 31, so pick your pickup place or delivery address first, then check the deadline. Hotels hand osechi over in the daytime on December 31 (see each section for hours). If you have plans on December 31, choose delivery where the seller offers it, and check the delivery area before you order. Takashimaya’s online store delivers only.
2. Takashimaya Online Store (高島屋オンラインストア)
Delivery
The online store has a “Kanto area delivery” osechi category (関東地域お届けおせち). Products in it have ＜関東地域お届け＞ in their names. The store’s osechi page says orders close at 10:00 on Friday, December 25, 2026, and some osechi at 10:00 on Sunday, December 27. On the page for the example box below (E147), the December 25 deadline is for credit card, Takashimaya Tomonokai shopping card, Neo Bank, Rakuten Pay, PayPay, d Barai, au PAY or Amazon Pay. If you pay at a convenience store, by Pay-easy or by online bank transfer, the deadline is 18:00 on Saturday, November 28, 2026.
- Example. The Japanese-Western-Chinese 3-tier box (和・洋・中 三段重, E147) is ¥34,560 for 4 servings. The page shows free shipping.
- Delivery. December 31 (Thursday), in the afternoon. You cannot choose another date or a time. For orders of two or more products, deliveries are separate.
- Changes. The page says it does not accept cancellations or changes after you order.
- Allergies. The page tells you to ask the customer center about allergens.
3. Hotel New Otani Tokyo (ホテルニューオータニ（東京）)
Pickup or delivery
The hotel takes orders from September 1 to Sunday, December 13, 2026, on the hotel’s website only. You get your osechi on Thursday, December 31, 2026, at Patisserie SATSUKI on the lobby floor of The Main (パティスリーSATSUKI), or by delivery. The pickup hours on the page are 11:00–20:00. The use-by date is January 1, 2027.
- Delivery area. Tokyo, Chiba, Kanagawa, Saitama, Ibaraki, Gunma and Tochigi, except some remote islands.
- Prices. Takumi-ju (匠重, 3 tiers, 2–3 servings) ¥88,000. Japanese 2-tier “Miyabi” (和風二段「雅」, 4–6 servings) ¥97,200. Western 1-tier “Iwai” (洋風一段「祝」, 4–6 servings) ¥50,000. Kiwami-ju 2027 (極み重2027, 6 tiers, 4–6 servings) ¥342,100.
- Not delivered. The sweets box (スイーツ重) ¥6,480 and the Patisserie SATSUKI kashi-ju (菓子重) ¥17,280 cannot be delivered.
- Changes. The hotel asks you to understand that orders cannot be changed or cancelled after ordering.
4. Imperial Hotel Tokyo (帝国ホテル 東京)
Pickup
Reservations run from September 17 to Friday, December 18, 2026, until 15:00, and a product can sell out before the deadline. You pick the osechi up on Thursday, December 31, 2026, 11:00–18:00, at the special desk in the banquet lobby on the 1st floor of the Main Building. This year the hotel sells its Western osechi only through its hotel shop Gargantua (ガルガンチュワ).
- Western osechi, 2 tiers. For 5 people ¥81,000 (member price ¥72,900). For 3 people ¥62,000 (member price ¥55,800).
- Nadaman Japanese osechi. For 4 people ¥84,240. For 3 people ¥46,440.
- Kagurazaka Ishikawa 2-tier osechi (for 3–4 people): ¥138,240.
- Changes. The page says it does not accept changes or cancellations after you apply.
- Questions. Hotel shop Gargantua, 03-3539-8086, 11:00–19:00.

5. Palace Hotel Tokyo (パレスホテル東京)
Pickup or delivery
The reservation period is August 15 to December 24, 2026. The hotel’s page and its online shop show every osechi as sold out, and the hotel does not keep a waiting list. The online shop lists five osechi: a Western 2-tier box for 4 people (¥80,000), a Western 2-tier box for 2 people (¥48,000), and Japanese boxes including a premium one for 4 people (¥125,000).
- Pickup. December 31, 10:30–19:00, at Sweets & Deli on B1F.
- Delivery. December 31, by the evening, with no time choice. The area is Tokyo, Kanagawa, Saitama, Chiba, Ibaraki, Tochigi and Gunma, except some remote islands.
- Cancellation fees. From December 15 to 28, 50% of the price. From December 29 to 31, 100%.
- Questions. Dedicated line 03-3211-5320, 10:30–19:00.
Common questions
Can I change or cancel my order?
Takashimaya, Hotel New Otani Tokyo and the Imperial Hotel Tokyo all say they do not accept changes or cancellations after you order. Palace Hotel Tokyo charges 50% of the price from December 15 to 28 and 100% from December 29 to 31.
Can I get osechi before December 31?
Not from the three hotels: their pages give December 31 as the pickup or delivery date. Takashimaya’s osechi page mentions items delivered on December 30 as well, so check the delivery date on each product page. Hotel New Otani Tokyo’s use-by date is January 1, 2027.
Are the order pages in English?
The pages we read are in Japanese. We did not find a statement about English support on them.
