Hiroshima Dreamination (ひろしまドリミネーション) is the big winter light-up in central Hiroshima. The 2026 dates have been announced and they differ from past years. This guide gives the dates, hours, areas, how to get there by tram, and three city parking lots if you drive.
In short
- Hiroshima Dreamination 2026 runs from Friday, December 4, 2026 to Sunday, January 24, 2027 (52 days), 17:30–22:30.
- On opening day the lights come on at about 18:00 because of the opening ceremony.
- The period is new this year. Past years usually ran from November 17 to early January, so do not plan a November visit.
- The official site gives no admission fee or English page yet. The English page is marked “in preparation”.

1. When is Hiroshima Dreamination 2026?
Hiroshima City and the organizing committee
The official site lists the 2026 theme as “Fairyland” (おとぎの国). The lights are on from 17:30 to 22:30 each day from December 4, 2026 to January 24, 2027. Hiroshima City’s press release of July 10, 2026 explains the change. Since fiscal 2004 the event usually ran from November 17 to January 3. From this year it runs from the first Friday in December to late January. The city says the aim is to bring more people into the city center in December and January, when hotel occupancy is low. The press release says more details will be announced later.

The organizer is the Hiroshima Light-up Project Executive Committee (ひろしまライトアップ事業実行委員会). Its office phone is 082-554-1813 (weekdays 9:00–17:45, in Japanese). The official site does not state an admission fee.
2. Where are the lights?
The lights run through central Hiroshima, mainly along Peace Boulevard (平和大通り). The official site lists these planned areas:
- The green belts of Peace Boulevard, from Shirajinja-mae to the Tanakamachi intersection.
- The Namiki-dori, Kinza-gai, Chuo-dori, Hondori and Nakanotana shopping streets.
- Alice Garden, the Higashi-Shintenchi public plaza and the Kyobashi River open cafe area.
- Motomachi Credo, Shirashima Queue Garden, Hilton Hiroshima, Hiroshima Gate Park and Hiroshima Stadium Park.
- Facilities around Hiroshima Station.
The areas are spread out, so decide where to start walking before you choose how to arrive.
3. How do I get there by tram?
Hiroden (広島電鉄) and Dive! Hiroshima
The city’s official tourism site, Dive! Hiroshima, said last year that the event is about a 2-minute walk from the Fukuromachi (袋町) tram stop. That page is for the 2025 event, so use it only as a guide to the route. It also says it takes about 25 minutes by car from Hiroshima IC on the Sanyo Expressway via National Route 54.
Hiroden’s one-day tram pass costs ¥700 for adults and ¥350 for children and covers all Hiroden tram lines. It does not include the Miyajima ferry. Hiroden sells it at its sales centers, on trams from the crew, and at major hotels in Hiroshima. It can sell out.
4. Which city parking lots are near the event?
Hiroshima City municipal parking
These are three city-run lots whose district names match event areas (Motomachi, Shintenchi and Hiroshima Station). They are regular lots, not special event parking, and we have not checked the walking distance. The city’s list was updated on October 1, 2026.
| Lot | Hours | Fee (cars) | Spaces |
|---|---|---|---|
| Chuo (中央) | 6:30–25:00 | ¥210 per 30 min, max ¥1,800 | 300 |
| Nishi-Shintenchi (西新天地) | 8:00–24:00 | ¥210 per 30 min | 95 |
| Hiroshima Station Shinkansen exit (広島駅新幹線口) | 24 hours | ¥230 per 30 min, 5:00–24:00 | 40 |
- Chuo is in Motomachi, Naka Ward. A car left past closing time adds ¥500 per night. Phone: 082-227-2110. Google Maps
- Nishi-Shintenchi is in Shintenchi, Naka Ward. On weekdays a 4-hour stay is capped at ¥1,200. A car left past closing time adds ¥500 per night. Phone: 082-541-5778. Google Maps
- Hiroshima Station Shinkansen exit is in Matsubaracho, Minami Ward. From 24:00 to 5:00 it costs ¥100 per hour. The city warns that it is often full. Phone: 082-569-6610. Google Maps
5. What about other Hiroshima Prefecture light-ups?
Two other well-known displays have not announced 2026 dates as of October 5, 2026. Bihoku Hills National Government Park’s “Bihoku Illumi” has no 2026 notice in the park’s press release list. At Miroku no Sato in Fukuyama City, the illumination page still shows the previous season, November 8, 2025 to January 11, 2026.
