Osechi (おせち) is a New Year meal of small dishes packed in stacked boxes (重箱, jubako). Which place you can use in Yamaguchi Prefecture depends on your city, because delivery areas and pickup stores differ. This guide compares three that publish their New Year 2027 details as web pages: Daimaru Shimonoseki (大丸下関店), Yume Town and Yume Mart (ゆめタウン・ゆめマート) and Izutsuya (井筒屋). It also notes two hotels whose details are in flyer images. All facts come from each company’s own pages, checked on October 5, 2026. The order pages are in Japanese, so each section shows what to select.
In short
- Daimaru Shimonoseki takes online orders until December 22 at 10:00. Its pickup counter is on the 6th floor, on December 31.
- Yume Town and Yume Mart sell by set: home delivery until December 20 and store pickup until December 27, for the set we checked. Pickup is at 12 stores in Yamaguchi.
- Izutsuya delivers to 11 Yamaguchi cities for ¥880. Its pickup point is in Kokura (Kitakyushu), not in Yamaguchi.
- Daimaru Shimonoseki will close on August 31, 2027, so this is its last New Year season.

1. Which one fits you?
Depends on the provider
Order deadlines run from December 20 to December 27, and the one that applies depends on the set and how you receive it. The prices below are examples from each official page. All prices include tax.

2. How do I order at each place?
2.1 Daimaru Shimonoseki (大丸下関店): online order, pickup on the 6th floor
Depends on the provider
Daimaru Shimonoseki’s osechi are ordered on the Daimaru Matsuzakaya Online Store. The order period ends on Tuesday, December 22 at 10:00. If you pay at a convenience store, a bank ATM or by online banking, the deadline is Wednesday, December 16. Items with shipping included (送料込み) end on Thursday, December 17 at 10:00.
Each product page says how you receive it:
- “Yamaguchi delivery, Shimonoseki store pickup” (山口県配送・下関店受取): pickup or delivery.
- “Nationwide delivery, no store pickup” (全国配送・店頭受取不可): delivery only.
Pickup: Thursday, December 31, 11:00 to 16:00, at the osechi pickup counter (おせちお渡しコーナー) on the 6th floor of Daimaru Shimonoseki. After you order, the store mails an order slip (ご注文控). Bring it on December 31 and check the pickup store on the slip, because the store cannot prepare your set at a different store.
Delivery: December 31, 9:00 to 21:00, with no time choice. Daimaru delivers to 18 cities and towns in Yamaguchi Prefecture (islands excluded) and to Kitakyushu City in Fukuoka Prefecture. The product page shows each item’s area. Delivery is only to a person at home on the delivery day, and the courier cannot leave the box in a delivery locker. Enter a phone number for the delivery address, which Daimaru requires for year-end delivery.
Examples: “Kofuku Osechi Hitsuji” by Chizuru Ohara (大原千鶴 口福おせち 未), Japanese, 3 tiers for 4 people, ¥32,400. “Morifuku” Selected Osechi T (盛福 厳選おせちT), 2 tiers for 2 people, ¥11,880. A Japanese 2-tier set for 4 people from Kyoto Gion Hamasaku (京ぎをん 浜作), ¥49,800. Prices and sets are on the store’s page.
The credit card must be in your own name, and it is charged when you order. Cash on delivery is not accepted. Changes, cancellations and returns are not accepted. Questions about a product go to the store’s osechi line (050-1782-8850, 10:00 to 18:00 from October 1 to December 20; until 17:00 on the last day).

Daimaru says Daimaru Shimonoseki will end business on August 31, 2027. It operates as usual until the end of August 2027.

2.2 Yume Town and Yume Mart (ゆめタウン・ゆめマート): pickup at 12 stores in Yamaguchi

The Yume Town group sells osechi on its online shop “youme online” (ゆめオンライン) and takes orders at store counters. Each set has its own sales period, so check the product page. For the 100-dish Japanese-Western 2-tier set from Senkaya (千賀屋 youmeオリジナル 100品目和洋おせち 二段重, 4 to 5 people, limited to 200 sets, ¥34,560), delivery orders end on December 20 and store-pickup orders end on December 27. Pickup is on December 31. Other sets on the list include a Japanese 3-tier set for 3 to 4 people at ¥21,384 and a Kyoto-Ohara ryokan Serio-supervised 6-tier set for 2 to 3 people at ¥27,000.
The list shows early-discount prices on some sets. For example, the Kyoto-style “Hanakagami” Japanese 3-tier set drops from ¥21,384 to ¥19,246. We could not find the end date of the early discount on the list page. Ask the shop or check each product page.
Pickup stores in Yamaguchi (12): Yume Town Minami-Iwakuni, Yanai, Chofu, Shin-Nanyo, Hofu, Ube, Yamaguchi, Tokuyama and Kudamatsu; Yume City (Shimonoseki City); Yume Mall Shimonoseki; and Yume Mart Minami-Onoda. The pickup date for the set above is December 31.
Delivery: there is no delivery fee, and you cannot choose a time. Home delivery from the online shop covers the Chugoku region (5 prefectures), Shikoku, Kyushu, Kansai, Chubu and Kanto. It does not cover Hokkaido, Okinawa, Tohoku, Hokuriku, Shin’etsu or some remote islands. If you order at a Yume Town store counter, the pages say delivery is limited to a shorter list of prefectures, including the five Chugoku prefectures and Fukuoka.
If you choose to pay at the store (店舗支払い), the 5x youme online points bonus is not added. After the order deadline, changes and cancellations are not possible.

2.3 Izutsuya (井筒屋): delivery in Yamaguchi, pickup only in Kokura
Depends on the provider
Izutsuya sells osechi on its online shop and by phone. Pickup is only at Kokura Izutsuya, in Kitakyushu City, Fukuoka Prefecture, not at a store in Yamaguchi. Pickup is on December 31 from 12:00 to 15:00, at the 9th-floor Pastel Hall Lounge in the New Building of Kokura Izutsuya (小倉井筒屋 新館9階).
Delivery in Yamaguchi: December 31, with no time choice, only to a person at home. It covers Shimonoseki City (some areas excluded, and no islands), Yamaguchi, Hofu, Ube, Sanyo-Onoda, Kudamatsu, Shunan, Hikari, Mine, Hagi (southern part) and Nagato. The delivery fee is ¥880 for one address, and a few sets differ. If you order two sets for the same address, Izutsuya charges the fee twice.
Payment and deadlines: if you pay by credit card, you are charged when Izutsuya processes the order, which can be before pickup. For bank transfer or convenience-store payment, the order deadline is Tuesday, December 8, and you must pay within 5 business days of the order date. You can cancel until Sunday, December 6 at 18:00. After that, no cancellation is accepted for any reason.

2.4 Two hotels: details are in flyer images

Yamaguchi Grand Hotel (山口グランドホテル) and Kokusai Hotel Ube (国際ホテル宇部) also take osechi orders, but their prices, deadlines and delivery areas are printed on flyer images. We did not verify those here. The hotel pages say this much in text:
- Yamaguchi Grand Hotel: its page for osechi and New Year hors d’oeuvres says you get a discount if you book by November 30. The hotel’s phone is 083-972-7777.
- Kokusai Hotel Ube: pickup is on Thursday, December 31 from 11:00 to 17:00.
Open the flyer on each hotel’s page or ask the hotel for the current details before you order.
3. What should I check before I choose?
Depends on the provider
Your city. Delivery areas differ for each company, so check your city before you choose. Daimaru Shimonoseki covers 18 cities and towns in Yamaguchi. Izutsuya covers 11 cities. The Yume Town group delivers across the Chugoku region and beyond. Check the product page for each set.
Pickup or delivery. Pickup is on December 31. If you cannot be at a store that day, choose delivery, which is also on December 31 for the sets we checked. None of the three lets you choose a delivery time, and Daimaru Shimonoseki and Izutsuya deliver only to a person at home.
Changes. Daimaru Shimonoseki and the Yume Town group do not accept changes or cancellations after the order. Izutsuya accepts cancellations until December 6 at 18:00. Decide the number of people and how you will receive the set before you order.
4. Common questions
Can the courier leave the osechi in a delivery locker?
Not for Daimaru Shimonoseki. It says it cannot use a delivery locker for osechi, and delivery is to a person at home on the delivery day. Izutsuya also limits delivery to customers who are at home on December 31.
Can I cancel after ordering?
It depends on the shop. Daimaru Shimonoseki says changes, cancellations and returns are not accepted. The Yume Town group says changes and cancellations are not possible after the order deadline. Izutsuya takes cancellations until December 6 at 18:00.
Can I pay when I pick up?
Not at Daimaru Shimonoseki: it charges a credit card when you order and does not take cash on delivery. The Yume Town group lets you choose to pay at the store (店舗支払い). Izutsuya charges a credit card when it processes the order, and also accepts bank transfer and convenience-store payment.
